Oculus Quest 2 Review 2024: A Fantastic VR Device For You

If you read my previous articles, you would know that I am a tp7ech enthusiast and love to test new technology and devices. From my passion, I have also tried the Oculus Quest 2. This Oculus Quest 2 has genuinely brought virtual reality to the masses with its accessibility and performance. First off, let’s talk about the design. Compared to its predecessor, the Oculus Quest 1 is more comfortable to wear for extended periods. Its standalone setup means you can strap it on and immerse yourself in VR without needing extra equipment. When I put on the Oculus Quest 2, I  noticed how it fits snugly and comfortably, thanks to its improved design. I could wear it for hours without discomfort, which is a big plus in my book.

In terms of performance, the Oculus Quest 2 delivers an excellent performance. Whether diving into intense VR games or exploring immersive experiences, this headset handles it easily. And if you want to take your gaming to the next level, you can connect it to your PC and access even more games through Steam VR. When I tested the Oculus  Quest 2 with various games and experiences, I was impressed by how smoothly everything ran. The graphics were sharp, the gameplay was fluid, and I felt completely immersed in the virtual worlds I was exploring. Now, onto the controllers. While they get the job done, the reliance on AA batteries can be a pain. It would have been nice to see a rechargeable option here. Now, let’s look at the details of Oculus Quest 2.

Oculus Quest 2 Design and Comfort:

Oculus Quest 2 Design and Comfort:

The Oculus Quest 2 is designed to be sleek and compact. It’s a step up in comfort compared to other bulky VR headsets. Although it is not perfect, it’s an improvement.

Weight-wise, it’s pretty light, over a pound. That’s about 10 per cent lighter than the previous Oculus Quest model. The thing I like about its design is that adjusting it to fit your head is easy. You can also move the lenses around for better eye alignment. But there are some downsides. It may feel heavy after wearing it for a while. Plus, it can get warm, especially during longer play sessions. Some people might even feel a little dizzy after using it. For glasses wearers, there might be some issues. Even with the included spacer, it might not fit perfectly against your face. In terms of looks, it’s similar to the previous version. But it’s a bit smaller and lighter.

Suppose you’re considering Oculus Quest 2. In that case, it’s essential to note that it initially launched on October 13th for £299/$300 for the 128GB configuration. However, Oculus has since increased the price to £399/$400, marking a £100/$100 price hike. Despite this increase, it remains one of the most affordable VR headsets, with the 256GB model priced at £429.99/$429.99. The 128GB model starts at $299, while the 256GB model is priced at $349. Performance and Specification of Oculus Quest 2:

When you dive into gaming on the Oculus Quest 2, you’ll be amazed by the fast and responsive performance, especially with titles like Beat Saber. The hand controllers feel intuitive, and getting back to the main menu is a breeze with just a button press. With each eye boasting 1832 x 1920 pixels, the crisp and clear graphics make for an immersive experience. While watching movies might not match the quality of a 4K TV, the 360-degree feel adds a whole new dimension to your entertainment. Even though some details could be sharper, you’ll be captivated by immersive 3D videos, like wildlife or space exploration. The audio quality is solid, enhancing your immersion in on-screen activities. However, remember that the headset doesn’t isolate audio, potentially bothering those around you. You can use the 3.5 mm audio port for wired headphones or connect wireless earbuds via Bluetooth for a more private experience. Plus, adjusting the volume directly on the headset is super convenient.
